The Feel Good Glasswool Insulation

The Feel Good Glasswool Insulation

Earthwool® glasswool insulation is known as the ‘feel good glasswool insulation’ and for good reason.

More than a decade ago Knauf Insulation revolutionised insulation manufacture with the introduction of ECOSE® Technology, a sustainable binder that is made without added formaldehyde. This was a significant step-change in insulation manufacture as it meant our glasswool insulation made with ECOSE® Technology was a sustainable alternative to petro-based binders, which are still used today by other manufacturers.

ECOSE® Technology is based on rapidly renewable materials instead of petro-based chemicals and contains no added phenols, acrylics or formaldehyde. ECOSE® Technology is less energy intensive to produce than traditional binders and because no artificial colours or dyes are added during manufacture, the result is a natural brown colour, so you can see the difference as well as feel it.

Earthwool® glasswool insulation is a popular product amongst insulation installers and DIYers because it is soft to touch and easy to handle.

Marae Renovations

For a number of years Earthwool® glasswool has been supplied to Marae DIY TV to help improve the health and comfort of the much used community spaces.

“We were stoked when Knauf Insulation said they would be happy to provide insulation for our Marae renovations. The insulation was installed by members of the community who all commented how easy the insulation was to work with. Everyone is overwhelmed by the final result,” said Simon Woodward, Production Coordinator, Marae DIY TV.

Earthwool® glasswool insulation has been designed for New Zealand conditions and has been helping Kiwi’s to create a healthy and comfortable home since 2009.

The range of glasswool insulation has BRANZ and CodeMark certification to demonstrate fit for use and compliance to local Building Standards. In addition, the products are backed by international certification for safety and sustainable manufacturing processes.

Products Designed for New Zealand Conditions

As part of our commitment to developing products specifically for New Zealand, Earthwool® glasswool underfloor insulation is only available with a wind-wash barrier. A study by BRANZ in 2016 revealed the thermal performance of exposed subfloor bulk insulation could be reduced by as much as 25%, so if a floor with R1.9 insulation installed in the floor would only perform as effectively as R1.5 in windy conditions.

Earthwool® glasswool insulation with a wind-wash barrier ensures the insulation will perform to the declared R-Value so if you have R1.8 insulation installed in your underfloor it will perform as R1.8 in windy conditions - giving you peace of mind that our insulation will perform as it should.

Local and International Certification

Earthwool® glasswool insulation is independently tested by local and international authorities to demonstrate the insulation meets the highest standards for safety and being fit for purpose.
