New Homes

If you are building your new home, it is the perfect opportunity to get your insulation levels right.

With increasing energy prices all new homes should be aiming to maximise insulation to increase comfort and reduce future power bills. Energy efficiency and sustainability is becoming more valued in New Zealand new build housing but we are still far behind the standards of other countries. To ensure your house will perform for your needs today as well as to accommodate changes in your lifestyle in the future, there are specification and product upgrades that can be made to achieve a higher performing energy efficient home to ensure your home exceeds minimum standards and is future-proof.

The current building standards will provide a more sustainable home than what was recommended in the past but this is not necessarily best practice in meeting a high performing energy efficient building. To achieve best practice for new builds, aim for high performing measures such as double glazing, water tanks, water and power saving appliances, and insulation with high R-Values. Insulation is well regarded as an effective building material that can contribute to the thermal and acoustic performance of a home but even more so, it can also help improve the energy efficiency and reduce energy consumption.
