Home insulation a priority for landlords
By Anonymous on April 03, 2013 has reported (26/03/2014) on the Labour Party bill that requires a minimum level of insulation and heating in rental properties.

The bill has full support of the the Property Investors Federation who say it is preferable to the troublesome Warrant of Fitness which is currently being trialled in state houses.

Adequate heating and insulation would have to be installed in all state and private rental properties.

The houses that currently present a health risk due to a problem of cold and damp are those in the private rental market as most of the state houses have already been insulated.

The federation says that landlords have a responsibility to provide decent housing. The bill acknowledges the need for a phase-in time to plan for any upgrades in heating and insulation.
